Inspiration

"To papa"

“This album is dedicated to my father. This February 2021 it was 20 years since he passed away, a special date on which I want to pay tribute to who was and remains a main reference in my life ”.

The story that is explained in the album, although it is not his story, nor does the character represent him, it is inspired and contains elements of his way of being, thinking and facing the world. The sparkling curiosity for the new, to discover other points of view, his ability to understand and put himself in the shoes of the other, and above all, his strength and vitality that made him always look forward, positively, and never give up. Fundamental elements in his life such as honesty and the value of emotional ties (of friendship and blood) are part of the background that inspires this album.

"Things of today"

Conflicts that we face on a daily basis as a society and as individuals have also left their mark. Personal, political and territorial conflicts caused not only by our inability to talk, but mainly, by our inability to listen. An inability to perceive what is around us, brought on by the speed and haste with which we move, express our opinions and decide, and which prevent us from tasting our passage through this world.

"Things of today and always"

The search for the meaning of our own existence, a dilemma that has haunted the humanity since ever, serves as a common thread throughout the album. From the need to get out of our comfort zone in search of answers, through the simple and empty hedonism that traps and drags into the abyss, to the rediscovery of friendship and love as goals in themselves.

"Musical influences"

The variety of genres and styles that Jor Baldwing has grown up with has undoubtedly influenced the formation of his music. His multicultural roots seep into the atmosphere and themes of his songs. Without trying to hide it, even rather by highlighting the richness that miscegenation brings, his style experiments and plays with possible symbiosis between different rhythms and time signatures in the same song, looking for harmonic contrasts and risking in the fine line of surprise.

In his influences we could find traces of alternative rock groups or indie rock from the 90s, rhythm & blues or programmatic music, as well as harmonies and electronic rhythmic bases and current alternative pop-rock. An unapologetic collage that is presented at the service of a narrative thread and that challenges audiences to broaden its musical spectrum as it progresses.
